A&M-Texarkana Takes Two from Texas College

Texarkana, TX – TAMUT takes game 1 agaist Texas College 6-3. In game 2 the Eagles would run rule Texas College 11-1.

LHP, Caleb Baker (SO/Lubbock, TX) would recieve the nod in game 1 of the doubleheader against Texas College.

TAMUT would get on the board first in the game with 1 run in the bottom of the 1st. Cameron Frost (SR/Olympia, WA) would hit an opposite field solo homerun for his 6th of the season.

The Eagles would scratch another run in the bottom of the 2nd inning to take a 2-0 lead on Texas College. Ethan Davis (JR/Midlothian, TX) doubled down the left field line. Chase Beebe (SO/Glenwood, AR) singled to shallow center to pick up an RBI in the process.

In the top of the 3rd, Texas College would cut the score in half with a single run. The Steers would record two hits to plate their run. TAMUT responded in the bottom half of the inning to get that run back. Cole Beckham (SO/Texarkana, TX) belted a solo homerun to left center for his 7th of the season. Caleb Dunn (FR/Dierks, AR) would finish his day after 3 innings of work, giving up 1 run, and fanned 1 batter.

Neiko Martinez (SR/Cortez, CO) would enter in relief to throw for the Eagles in the 4th inning. Martinez tossed a shutout inning in the top of the 4th. In the bottom half TAMUT plated 1 run in the inning for a 4-1 lead. Chase Beebe started the inning by an infield single and he advanced to second on the next pitch via a passed ball. Bronson Butcher (JR/Eagle Mountain, UT) singled to right to drive in Beebe.

Texas College answered back in the top of the 5th inning with a run to put the score at 4-2. TC had 2 hits and took advantage of an Eagles error to plate their run. Martinez would be toss 2 innings for the Eagles, giving up 1 run, and struck out 2 batters.

In the top of the 6th, Taylor McMackin (FR/Hawaii Kai, HI) would come in from the bullpen for the Eagles. The Steers drove in a run to put the score within one at 4-3. Texas A&M-Texarkana brought around 2 runs in the bottom half of the 6th inning to go up 6-3. McMackin would end his day with 1 inning pitched, giving up 1 run, and striking out 1 batter.

Caleb Baker would be called upon to get the save for TAMUT and he would do just that. Baker tossed the final frame, giving up 1 hit, and striking out the side. Eagles would take game 1 over Texas College 6-3.

RHP, Alec Rios (SR/Chula Vista, CA) toed the rubber in game 2 of the doubleheader against Texas College.

TAMUT takes the lead in the bottom of the 1st inning after scoring 1 run. Cole Beckham led off the inning with a double to deep left field. A wild pitched advanced Beckham up to third base. Cade Davis (SR/Lubbock, TX) hit a sacrifice fly RBI to give TAMUT the lead.

The Eagles would scratch another run in the bottom of the 2nd inning for a 2-0 lead. Alex Kugler (FR/Texarkana, TX) would hit a single through the infield and would be followed by a Darren Alexander (SR/Lubbock, TX) hit by pitch. A wild pitch advanced both runners up a base to open first base. Texas College would intentionally walk Cole Beckham to load the bases. Cade Davis would hit another sacrifice fly RBI.

In the top of the 3rd, Texas College cut the lead in half to 2-1 with a run that came from 2 hits and an Eagles error. A&M-Texarkana would have a big inning in the bottom half as they scored 4 runs. Zachary Boehler (JR/Yuma, AZ) led off with a single to third, Michael Moore (SR/Colfax, CA) singled to left center, and Chase Beebe hit an RBI single. Alex Kugler would put down a sacrifice bunt to move up the runners. Darren Alexander hit a 2 RBI double to put TAMUT up 6-1.

Zachary Boehler would lead off the bottom of the 4th inning with a single to shallow right center. Michael Moore followed with a single of his own. A wild pitch advanced the runners up a base. Chase Beebe single to right center to drive in 2 runs.

In the bottom of the 5th inning, TAMUT plated 3 insurance runs to go up 11-1 on Texas College. Cole Beckham led off with a single to right field. Cameron Frost singled to left to move Beckham to second. Nick Anderson (FR/Texarkana, TX) singled up the middle to grab an RBI. Zachary Boehler doubled down the left field line for an RBI. Madison Roberts (SO/Harpersville, AL) entered as a pinch hitter and would hit a chopper to third that was misplayed to bring in the final run of the inning. Alec Rios would toss 5 complete innings for the Eagles. He gave up 4 hits, 1 earned runn, and struck out 5 batters.

Teddy Henderson (SR/West Monroe, LA) would get an inning of work out of the bullpen and he would strike out 2 batters to keep the score at 11-1.

Chandler Minze (JR/Longview, TX) would enter in the top of the 7th to pitch for the Eagles. He would force out the first two batters he faced and Ethan Davis would enter to record the final out. Davis would strike out the lone batter he saw to give TAMUT the 11-1 win over Texas College.

Texas A&M-Texarkana will host RRAC opponent, University of Houston-Victoria on Friday, April 7th. Game one is set for a 6:00PM start.
