Pleasant Grove flattens Ashdown 17-2

ASHDOWN, Ark. — Texas’ 4th ranked 4A team, the Pleasant Grove Hawks exploded for ten first inning runs and destroyed Arkansas’ top ranked 4A team, the Ashdown Panthers 17-2 on Monday night from City Field in Ashdown.

The Hawks (16-2) sent 14 batters to the plate in that 10 run first inning, including Cade Thompson who tripled and doubled and Heath Ferguson singled and hit a three-run homer, his second home run of the season.

Pleasant Grove finished the night with 18 hits, three each from Will Hlavinka and Jackson Cobb. Tyler Jeans pitched 4 1/3 innings for the win.

Pleasant Grove will host 12th ranked Pittsburg in the 14 4A district opener on Friday night.

The loss dropped Ashdown to 8-2 on the season.
