Pleasant Grove’s 13 hits help sink Pirates 9-0

PITTSBURG, Texas — Pleasant Grove won 14-4A matchup over Pittsburg Thursday night in a game that was originally scheduled to be played on Tuesday. The Hawks pounded out 13 hits on the way to a 9-0 win over the Pirates.

Will Hlavinka paced the Hawks with four singles and Carson Cox added three hits as PG completed a season sweep of the Pirates – out scoring them 19-0 in the two games.

Senior Caleb Bolden hit a two-run homer in the 7th inning. It was Bolden’s 4th home run this season.

On the mound Tyler Jeans continued his recent dominating performance. Jeans surrendered three hits, no walks and struck out seven Pirates to improve his record to 7-0.

Pleasant Grove (22-2) is now 6-0 in district play, while Pittsburg, (16-8) which three weeks ago was ranked 12th in the state, has lost five of their past six games and is now 1-5 in district.

The Hawks travel to Paris on Friday for a 7:30 pm game against the Wildcats. Pittsburg will be at Liberty Eylau on Friday.
