TEXARKANA — The Tampa Bay Rays drafted Pleasant Grove Hawks pitcher Caleb Bolden in the 16th round of the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft Tuesday.
The senior was taken 469th overall.
Bolden, a 6-2, 175-pound right-handed pitcher, led the Hawks to a UIL state semifinal appearance. However, the Hawks fell short against Abilene Wylie 3-1.
The drafting of Pleasant Grove’s star pitcher comes four days after being named all-state.
Congratulations to @Caleb_Bolden for being named 1st team all-state pitcher by THSBCA.
