Texarkana, TX – Eagles win a big RRAC series over #22 LSU-Shreveport. Split doubleheader with 10-7 loss and 5-4 win.

RHP, Jacob Cobb-Adams (SR/Kailua, HI) would start the first game of the doubleheader against LSU-Shreveport.
TAMUT would get on the board first in the game. The Eagles scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Cole Beckham (SO/Texarkana, TX) led off with a hit by pitch and Bronson Butcher (JR/Eagle Mountain, UT) would draw a walk to move up Beckham. Cameron Frost (SR/Olympia, WA) singled to right center to load the bases with no outs. Zachary Boehler (JR/Yuma, AZ) doubled to deep right center to drive in 2 RBI’s.
In the top of the 5th inning, the LSUS Pilots would cut the score in half with a single run. A single followed with a balk and two ground outs allowed the Pilots to score.
LSU-Shreveport would take the lead in the top of the 6th inning after a big 5 run inning. Cobb-Adams would record 2 outs in the 6th inning but would get touched up with 3 hits and 3 runs and would be lifted of his pitching duties. Caleb Dunn (FR/Dierks, AR) would enter the game and would walk a batter and give up a single and a double while allowing 2 runs. Dunn would not record an out and the Eagles would then ask Jon Michael Cunningham (SR/Texarkana, TX) to get out of the inning. In the bottom half of the inning, TAMUT would have a big inning of their own with 4 runs to tie it at 6-6. Cameron Frost led off with a sinlge to left and would steal a base. Cade Thomason (JR/Oak Grove, LA) would follow with a 2 run blast to dead center field for his 4th homerun of the season. George Gugino (JR/Midwest City, OK) would get things going again by a walk and Chase Beebe (SO/Glenwood, AR) followed with a single down the right field line. Kolton Perfect (JR/Warren, TX) laced a 2 RBI double to deep center field for the final 2 runs of the inning.
The Pilots would post another big inning with plating 4 runs in the top of the 7th inning. Cunningham would record only one out in the 7th before ending his day on the mound. The Pilots put together 3 hits and 3 runs on Cunningham in the inning. Caleb Baker (SO/Lubbock, TX) would finish off the inning but would allow one run of his own. In the bottom half of the inning, TAMUT would make things interesting. Cameron Frost singled to left center, Cade Thomason repeated with a single, and George Gugino singled to left to load the bases with two outs. Chase Beebe would grab an RBI single to right to put the score at 10-7. The inning would stop here as the Eagles left 3 runners stranded to end the game and TAMUT would fall 10-7.

RHP, Neiko Yribe (SR/San Diego, CA) took the hill in the final game of the series against LSUS.
The Pilots plated 2 runs in the top of the 1st for an early lead. LSUS recorded 4 hits and a hit by pitch to plate their runs.
Eagles would be held quiet for a few innings but would get on the board with 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. Zachary Boehler led off with a hit by pitch but was forced out on George Gugino‘s groundout. Chase Beebe single to left to advance the runner. Gugino and Beebe would pull off a double steal and the LSUS catcher would make a throwing error to score Gugino. Michael Moore (SR/Colfax, CA) picked up an RBI double in the following at bat to equalize the score at 2-2.
In the bottom of the 5th, TAMUT would take the lead as they scored 2 more runs. Wyatt Miller (JR/Valley Falls, KS) led off with a single to right with Cameron Frost following with an infield single. Zachary Boehler picked up 2 RBI’s on his single to center to give the Eagles a 4-2 lead.
Yribe would record one out in the 7th before he was relieved of his duties after LSUS touched him up for a triple and a double that allowed 1 run to score. Caleb Baker would be called upon in relief and he would minimize the Pilots inning to only one run.
The Pilots would even the score in the top of the 8th inning that came from a solo homerun. In the bottom half of the inning, the Eagles would take the lead again by plating a single run. Cade Thomason led off with a double to right field and would advance to second on Zachary Boehler‘s sacrifice bunt. George Gugino walked to put runners on the corners with one out. Chase Beebe slapped a single to right for an RBI and to give TAMUT a 5-4 lead. Baker would toss the final frame for TAMUT and he would pick up the win for the Eagles.
Texas A&M-Texarkana will host RRAC opponent, Texas College in a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 4th. The contests will be a non-conference match up. Game one is set for a 3:00PM start followed by a 6:00PM start.
