This past week Spencer Browning from Texarkana, Texas was selected as a USSSA Select30 Top Prospect, his mother said.
Browning was voted top pitcher and started on the mound at ESPN Wide World Champion Stadium Disney World in the Select30 Championship All Star game. The Select 30 program is put on by USSSA and the MLBPA.
During the season 130 kids are selected in each age division across the country. They are selected by scouts that watch the Super NIT Majors division tournaments.
They hand out special invite “Golden Tickets” to kids they see during live play that they believe to be top players. Spencer received his Golden Ticket at the DFW Super NIT. Then during a week long series of live games, training, and skill evaluations at ESPN Wide World at Disney, the field is narrowed down to only 30 kids from all over the country who scouts and former MLB players feel are the best. Then form two 15 player teams to play each other in an All Star game.
